Carmen Gonzalez
Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Carmen Gonzalez completed her Fine Arts studies with the Faculty of Extension, University of Alberta. Her playful compositions have a contemporary realism style with an illustrative touch. She enjoys using bold, saturated colours along with lively, nostalgic patterned backgrounds. This combination of bold colours and patterns lures the senses of the viewers. All senses of sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch are enticed as well as evoking emotional, social, and cultural elements.
Quoting from Aristotle, “the aim of art is to not represent the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance”, Carmen strives to create a connection that is positive, meaningful, and uplifting, whether engaging the viewer to recognize and appreciate beauty itself or stirring up memories and associations related to the subject matter depicted.
