Catherine Denvir
Catherine Denvir studied at Chelsea School of art in London.
Her work has been exhibited in London, New Jersey, with Arusha Gallery at the Glasgow Art Fair. She has had one-woman shows at The Black Shed Gallery Sussex and Antonio Massarutto Gallery, Cortona Italy. Catherine’s paintings have been featured in 3X3 Magazine, New York and the Taiwanese publication, ‘The Age of European Drawing’.
She divides her time between London and Cortona, Italy. These contrasting locations provide many inspirations. Themes that she attributes to this hybrid of city and countryside include architecture within landscape. The Shard on the horizon, the ruined castle on a hill, man’s fleeting embellishment of nature. The intangible quality of time and memory influences her ideas and feeds into her images. The intertwining of real and imagined worlds creates the ‘once upon a time’ of life and the metaphysical adventures of child hood, with its hovering presence of a half-understood world.
