Elena Gusareva born in Yurga, west Siberia, Russia. The artist was fascinated by sciences and arts since childhood. Elena is a professional biologist working in Singapore. Biological sciences and nature have always been a great source of her artistic inspiration and was often reflected in her artworks. Around ten years ago, she was impressed by Japanese and Chinese paper-cutting traditions in which the artists created any type of original designs out of paper using scissors or a knife. This technique gives a lot of freedom to create whether laconic black and white or very picturesque images. In 2014, Elena graduated from Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts de Liège in Belgium as a multidisciplinary artist. Since then, Elena pursued the paper-cutting technique to create portraits, landscapes and abstract designs.
