Gennaro Santaniello

Born in Naples, Italy, Gennaro Santaniello grew up in the area around Vesuvius, where he currently lives and works. He made his first oil on canvas painting at the age of 10. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering and is a self-taught artist. At the beginning of his artistic training he was very fascinated by the metaphysical works of De Chirico and by the surrealism of Dali'. He later found inspiration in pop culture, and in rock-pop stars portraits. 

Currently his research is mainly concentrated on the human figure, especially on realistic portraits. He mostly paints oil on canvas, and sometimes other techniques. He has taken part in numerous group exhibitions in Italy and abroad and his paintings are in private collections in America, China and Europe.
