Irene Gronwall
Irene Gronwall has been an abstract painter, for the past 20 years, and she paints layers upon layers. She is interested in what lays underneath each layer; in life, in nature, in people, in actions – in things she sees in everyday life. Painting is a process as life is a process. What do we show and what do we hide? She wants the viewers to use their emotions and hopefully become moved. Experience the painting – rather than “understand”.
“My father was a painter, I grew up in the midst of paint and turpentine. But I trained as an actor. During my acting career, I have always been drawing and painting. I think painting and acting are similar in many ways. You have a blank canvas or an empty stage. You have to fill them both with yourself!"
