Lu Mourelle
Lu Mourelle’s work is the result of her emotional baggage. Since childhood, she alternates residence between Brazil and Europe - the artist has always been accustomed to living in plural societies. This characteristic has a profound impact on her work, which reveals the socio-cultural multiplicity in different themes, mainly in the conception of characters and archetypes. She intends to highlight the multiple personalities that make up the female universe stimulating the understanding of exotic and atypical but contemporary beauties. Without relying on realism, the featured series combines traits and creates convincing female human figures to be read by the public in interpretive and subliminal ways.
Lu Mourelle currently lives and works in Cascais, Portugal, where she stays at a gallery in the Citadel Art District as an artist-in-residence. She is a member of the National Society of Fine Arts of Lisbon and is the author of artworks that today integrate private and public collections in the United States, Canada, Belgium, France, Spain, Germany, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, China, South Korea, Brazil and Argentine.
