Marc Bowditch
Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Marc Bowditch later moved to Canada. As a young boy he enjoyed drawing and painting with watercolour. He would record what he saw on paper. Later, studies in Architecture took him to London and then to Rome, where he settled for a number of years before moving to Milan, and finally to Berlin where he now lives and paints. Painting is his vocation and has accompanied him everywhere. He is an autodidact. He sometimes paints hundreds of small individual abstract watercolours on 300 gram paper. He then cuts and folds them, connecting each piece within a structure to compose a larger work. These watercolours border on sculptural - he calls them watercolour mosaics.
