Sunflowers in Provence
“look at its shape, with vibrant yellows and oranges, a sunflower can brighten your day...it's as if it is smiling like a happy face painted on the sun...so if you do only one thing all day, let it be to smile, so you can brighten the day of others around you, just like the sunflower”
― Bodhi Smith
Wietzie was inspired by the work of Van Gogh, with his love of sunflowers and the colour yellow.
She began with a palette-knife underpainting that allows her to create a surface full of small stipples of paint. The flowers are done impasto style. This decadent surface of different textures brings the painting to life. In addition, the color, shapes, and subtle allusions in her title leads you through the emotional subject of her work.
