Peter Goodhall
Peter Goodhall paints water in a striking and contemporary style. With the benefit of a studio overlooking the sea for many years combined with a passion for all things marine, being able to paint the sea has always been an important aspect of his work, creating subtle yet dramatic imagery.
Since the 1970s he has been exploring ways to paint water and also nudes in water. He creates oil paintings, often large canvases that embrace the reflective properties of water depicting the patterns and movements together with the distortions and reflections of light that appear in the water and on the figure. His aim is to produce a high degree of realism without being too photographic. He often uses sequences of abstract shapes to achieve that effect.
