Sabina Šinko

Sabina Šinko is a painter and costume, set and puppet designer. She has exhibited and created many theater performances, especially for Puppet Theaters in Slovenia and abroad.  

Her artistic work as a painter focuses mainly on painting watercolour, ink and acrylic techniques on canvas, paper and silk. She uses traditional Chinese ink and watercolour overlays several times, while maintaining each coat to achieve airiness and freshness. She likes to work in uncontrolled, free-flowing way. Creativity is for her a play between control and freedom where subjects display their feelings, moods and emotions. 

She looks into relationships between reality and fantasy, mass, popular culture and intimacy. Human ignorance really touches her. She finds herself in Surrealism, and figurative art with abstract effects. She likes combining elements from different sources within a single painting, influenced by her observations of people and their daily interactions with nature.
