Tore Hogstvedt
Tore Hogstvedt was born in Siljan, a small village of Norway. He is a self-taught painter, inspired by impressionism and pointillism from 19th Century. He wants to bring attention and appreciation to nature, as nature can raise awareness and increase one’s sense of belonging.
Oil paint is his medium – he uses short, thick strokes of paint to quickly capture the essence of the subject. Impasto is often applied and complementary colours are mixed to create the greys and dark tones. Some of his smaller canvases are painted outdoors. He has participated in hundreds of group shows since the ‘90s, more than 30 solo exhibitions in Norway, USA, France, Germany, England, Canada and Taiwan.
