I want to create something that does not exist in watercolour. Watercolour may be known as a traditional medium, but it has unlimited possibilities. This work lies between sculpture and painting. I call it a watercolour mosaic.
This painting is made from an assemblage of smaller watercolours painted on Fabriano 300 gm paper. Each element is cut, folded and assembled to make the final work. This assemblage is secured to a wood backing for structure and strength and finally mounted in a white wood box frame. Each watercolour section is coated with cold wax varnish protecting the work from the elements.
