This portrait used a muted palette contrasting with areas of vibrant colour. The work is painted with contrasting areas of glazing, thick impasto and stripping away layers to reveal the painting's history. It continues my interest in the presentation and concepts of beauty. We are exposed to countless images of manipulated perfection of the human form. This work is a counterbalance to this through the use of uneven surface textures and blotches of paint. Creating imperfect or flawed beauty.
