In the Vortex
The artwork was inspired by irregular grid composition. The artist started with a base collage of various papers consisting of blue prints, watercolor paper, etc. From there the artist added layers of various paint colors and divided the canvas into a grid-like structure. When the artist paints it is usually have a general idea of the composition and let the process unfold organically without too much adherence to the initial concept. The artist felt he achieved a balanced and pleasing composition with plenty of cool details. At first glance this is a black and white painting, but upon further inspection there are a kaleidoscope of colors within the bars. The result is a bold, graphic structured painting that I love.
