The series "Mångatas" explores the marriage of chance-derived gestures with exacting grid geometry. Melisa explores the pictural ideas in the works of Frank Stella's grids, Matisse's cut-outs and Gerhard Richter's blurred aesthetic. Built upon a multilayered convergence of aerosol painting and hard-edge techniques on wood, this ethereal series solicits our visual perception by suggesting optical motifs emerging out obscuration and shimmering planes. Through this playful hybridization, the artist sets out to create a dynamic composition of motifs emerging out of obscuration and repetition.
