The painting was written in an archaeological expedition in the Crimea.
Koyashskoe lake is located in Crimea. It is located in the south of the Kerch Peninsula, in the Cimmerian steppe, on the Black Sea, from which it is separated by a narrow sandy isthmus.
When viewed from the mountain, it looks especially impressive: the pink surface on the horizon merges with the azure of the sky, and the vast blue sea is spread out very close by.
A pinkish tint appears with the advent of warm days. At first, it is barely noticeable and visible only from afar, but by May the lake becomes brighter. It looks unforgettable and fantastic in the rays of the rising or setting sun. During these hours, such an amazing game of colors reigns that even a camera is unable to convey. This picture must be observed with the artist's own eyes. In the summer, as it becomes shallow, the color of the water takes on an ever brighter shade - from raspberry to crimson red.
