It is early summer here in Kent, and the artist is working outside to the accompaniment of birdsong. This is the fourth in a series of paintings she has called Superfloral. They are abstracted but inspired by summer flowers and light, and by her own feelings of joy and happiness in summer. Building up many layers of colour, using top quality Golden paints and spattering, using brushes, rags and palette knives to create a rich and textured surface with tonal depth is her aim. Her canvas is worked both on the ground and on an easel - this allows her to add layers of watercolor like painting without it all dripping to the bottom the canvas! When on the easel in the last stages, the artist was able to stand back and look, she spends more time looking than working at this stage and she tried to assess balance, colour and overall feel.
