This painting is based on the artist's home town in the UK, Whitstable where she grew up. There is a famous pub on the beach called The Old Neptune which dates back to 1853. It is one of very few pubs in the UK situated on the beach. As with many English seaside towns, they have pebbles, limited sand and murky water. This painting is an abstract landscape of this part of home!
