This surreal artwork features the Whirlpool Galaxy M51a, found in the constellation Canes Venatici, based on a photograph taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. The other people and objects in the painting explore the idea of the inside and outside of stars, our world, oranges, and clasped hands.

Keeping in mind the effects of our increasingly expanding universe, such that at some point objects are receding from us at and faster than the speed of light, and Einstein's theory that at such a speed mass becomes infinite, we are reminded by the presence of a black hole in the painting that we all live at the center of our own apparent black hole, as does every other point in the universe. This is one answer to the enigmatic question, "What is inside a black hole?"
